October 24, 2026: The American Ornithological Society’s (AOS) 67th Supplement has been released.  The new supplement adds 4 new species for Texas based upon splits, as shown below, bringing the Texas State List up to 682 with the following new species: Eurasian Whimbrel (which was split from Whimbrel, which is now called Hudsonian Whimbrel), Willet was split in two so there are two Willet species called Prairie Willet and Saltmarsh Willet, Marsh Wren was in two resulting in two wren species called Western Marsh-Wren and Eastern Marsh-Wren, and there is now Mangrove Warbler which was split from Yellow Warbler.

May 10, 2025: The TBRC has officially added Vaux's Swift to the state list. The acceptance of this species brings the state list to 678

August 14, 2025: Due to changes with the AOS 66th supplement, with the splitting of Vega Gull from Herring Gull and Western Warbling-Vireo from Warbling Vireo, the state list is now at 677

August 7, 2025:  The TBRC has officially added Nazca Booby and Asian Stonechat to the state list.  With the acceptance of these species, the state list in now at 675.

June 28, 2025: The TBRC has officially added Gray Gull to the state list.  The acceptance of this species brings the state list to 673.
